You can search content by following categories

Sign up by filling out our user registration form. After submitting the form, you'll be sent an email with your account details and a randomly generated password.

Once you've confirmed your account via the link sent in your email, you will be able to log in and begin contributing entries and events (editable at any time) by clicking links you'll see at the top right above the navigation.

First, join Kidzinfo. Once you've verified your account by confirming it via an email you'll receive, you can log in to your account.

After logging in, you'll see a new bar above the navigation that greets you in the form of, "Hi, [name]". You'll also see new links to the right.

To add a entry, click 'Add Web Site Entry' and you'll be presented with a form to fill out and submit. After submission, your entry will be reviewed before publishing.

To add free resource like articles, e-books, audios, videos, and other contents click 'Add Free Resource' and you'll be presented with a form to fill out and submit. After submission, your entry will be reviewed before publishing.

To add an event, click 'Add Event' and you'll be presented with a form to fill out and submit. Once you've submitted, events are not reviewed, so you'll see it in our Upcoming Events calendar instantly and if you referred to an entry, the event will appear on its page as well.

Once you've submitted an entry, it goes into a queue where it is reviewing before publishing. Unlike published entries, you won't see it anywhere on the site, not even the categories you selected.

To find and edit it, all you have to do is visit your profile and you'll see a new area just below your name and location called 'Queued entries'. Click the queued entry's title, and you'll be able to view it in all its unpublished glory, with a pink surrounding box. You'll notice an 'Edit' tab (just like your profile). Click the 'Edit tab and you'll be taken to a form where you can edit any of your entry's fields.

You won't see this area unless you have queued entries. Once an entry is published, it can be found under the 'Published entries' of your profile.

We've tried to provide a well rounded spectrum of categories to apply to your entry, but if you don't find what you're looking for, send us an email and we can add the category if we agree.

That said, you can still add your entry and later edit to include any new categories created.

Your profile is automatically compiled and updated for you as your activity at Kidzinfo increases. Your profile contains information such as your entries, favorites, comments, ratings, and subscribed groups.

The only information that we need from you - your name, location, etc - is requested when you're filling out the registration form.

There is only one extra thing that we can't collect at registration that helps improve your profile, and that's adding your photo to it. To do so, just visit your profile and click the placeholder image called 'Add your photo' and you'll be taken to an image upload field where you can upload a photo from your computer.

Favorites are essentially bookmarks within Kidzinfo. If you visit an entry that you like, or would like to track closer by having it linked to from your profile, simply click 'Favorite this', and the entry will be added as a favorite without even reloading the page. A quick and easy way to track specific entries that catch your eye.

Channels is our fancy word for Kidzinfo's main categories. An example of a channel is Products.

Channels hold categories, the primary way of organizing all of Kidzinfo's entries.

Channels contain categories. An example of a category is Amusement.

Categories are the primary way of organizing all of Kidzinfo's entries, allowing you to quickly fund what you're looking for.

Groups are a way for you to connect with other people in your related industry. On top of being able to categorize entries, you can post them to any and all groups. In a way, groups are like an extra channel.

When you subscribe to a group, you are given the ability to receive new notifications via email when a new entry is posted into said group - these notifications are turned off by default though, as an email for each entry can quickly turn into an annoyance.

To turn on these notifications, just edit your profile by clicking 'My Account' and then the 'Edit' tab. Scroll down your page until you see 'Groups Notification Settings' and you are presented with 3 options to choose from.

Sure thing, as long as we agree and feel that it'll help expand the site's demography. Send us an email to request a new group.

After you've subscribed to a group yourself, you'll see new links in the sidebar on the Groups page. They are 'Invite friends', '[#] subscribers', and 'My Subscription'.

To invite friends not already registered at Kidzinfo, click 'Invite friends'. You're presented with a form that allows you to enter up to 10 email addresses and a personal message. Once you've typed in up to 10 addresses and your message, click 'Send invitation' and your friends will receive an email from Kidzinfo on behalf of yourself.

If your friend is already registered at Kidzinfo, you can use the exact same form, the only difference being that instead of their email address, you can input their Kidzinfo username, and they'll receive an email from Kidzinfo on your behalf inviting them to join the group.

(It's worth noting that you can still use their email address to invite them even if they are a registered user.)

When viewing a user's profile, just click the 'Contact' tab and you'll be presented with a form to fill out. You'll notice that the 'From:' and 'To:' fields are automatically filled in. Fill out the 'Subject' and 'Message' and click 'Send E-mail'. The message will be sent to their email address. When the user replies to your email, it will be sent to your email address, Kidzinfo does not track or handle any more messages that the first sent.

Here's an example: Contact admin

Visit your friend's profile and click 'Add [name] as a friend', the link is above the user's photo. You'll be taken to a confirmation screen where you can either cancel or 'Add' the user as a friend.

Click 'Add' and the user will be notified via email that you've added them as a friend. When the user logs in, a message will also be displayed, claiming '[name] has added you as a friend'.

To return the favour and make that user a friend, just click their name provided in the message and it'll take you to their profile. If the message doesn't appear or you missed it, all you have to do is visit your friend's profile, and click 'Add [name] as a friend'.

Just visit the 'Edit' tab of your profile and find 'Friends settings'. Uncheck the box called 'Receive friends list notification mails' and you won't get any emails about new friends. You will still get a site message when you log in or visit your profile after a user has added you, but emails will stop.

Kidzfeeds is our fancy way of saying RSS feeds, they're the same thing. Each of the Kidzinfo channels has their own RSS feed. An example of an RSS feed is Services.

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is an XML feed that streamlines content syndication. In other words, it's a way to subscribe to web sites, and elements of web sites, that you'd like to receive on an ongoing basis. Kidzinfo offers RSS feeds for each of its channels and their categories, and groups.

You'll need an RSS reader. Don't have one? Try Google Reader. Or, if you use Firefox, you can use the built-in RSS feature called Live Bookmark. On any page, click the RSS icon in the Status Bar and select the format you prefer.

If RSS feeds are still confusing or you'd rather get a nice weekly round up, you can subscribe to a once-a-week email notification that sends out links and short teaser descriptions of each new entry added in the previous week.

By default, new users that register are subscribed to the email, but you can turn it off by visiting the 'My notification settings' tab of your profile, and selecting 'Disabled' under 'Notify Status'.

If you'd still like the weekly email but would prefer not to receive it as detailed (without the short teaser descriptions), you can choose to by selecting the respective options under 'Detailed Settings' within the 'My notification settings' tab, under the "Master Switch' that controls whether you get the email or not.
